Once more the women of York are coming together to celebrate

refreshments thrown in

Don't miss the Settlement Players' production of Chekhov's "Three
Sisters" at the Theatre Royal, or the City Screen showing of the powerful
and award-winning film "Snow" which deals with the aftermath of the
Bosnian war and its effect on women and children. York in Transition will
be showing "A Farm for the Future" and there is a fundraiser for victims
of domestic violence at the Winning Post featuring Jess Gardham.
If you prefer more easily digested fare, then why not join Sharmini as
she creates a tasty Mother's Day brunch, or create a fairy-tale hand
puppet out of felt with Vivienne at the Steiner School?
Fancy some Tai Chi in Museum Gardens, or Yoga for pregnancy or
weight loss, or a good swim? Then have a good look at the programme
and choose your time. YorkWalk is offering 2 guided walks around the
city for IWW on the themes of Women in York History and Literary
Women in York.
At King's Manor, Professor the Baroness Afshar will be examining the
current Equality Bill, Heather Stroud will be sharing her experiences with
the Viva Palestina convoy which broke the siege of Gaza in January, and
Devi Sorefan will be talking about the Iwokrama Rainforest Project and
its effect on climate change.
In the city centre enjoy the busking of the Mainstreet Sound Ladies
Barbershop Chorus and don't forget that York's Fairtrade Market will be
on during the first weekend of IWW.
The women of York have much to share and invite you to participate in
this annual event. For the full programme see www.yorkwomen.org.uk |
