DESCRIPTION |
 |
The story behind the creation of the Taj Mahal is told in this remarkable
historic black & white silent film which is accompanied by a live
performance of a specially commissioned score from Sarvar Sabri that
brings together musical influences from across the globe.
Commissioned in 2008 for the Lichfield Festival, Sarvar
Sabri leads his ensemble in an exploration of melodic and rhythmic
influences drawn from South Asian, Latin
American, jazz and Western classical traditions. The line up of tabla,
sarangi, violin, piano, vocals, bass, sitar, saxophone and flute combine
to create a rich soundscape that seamlessly complements the original
film. |
